Artsy

Artsy sought to transform its workplace into an environment that embodies its mission to connect the world with art. We conducted a workplace strategy engagement – leadership interviews, staff workshops, surveys, observational studies – to understand the culture and spatial needs of the organization. The research identified tensions within Artsy’s operations: art and science, autonomy and belonging, spontaneity and planning, start-up and grown-up. The design proposal reimagines the office as a city. Departments function as neighborhoods buffered by collaborative “park” spaces that facilitate planned and spontaneous exchange. Two anchor spaces, the Hub and the Salon, were proposed: the Hub as a centralized flexible workspace with a digital dashboard connecting Artsy’s global offices, and the Salon as a public-facing interface for community programming, exhibitions, and events.
